System Requirements

SoftAid recommends that healthcare service providers operate our practice management systems on computers equipped with the following minimum specifications. While our software will operate on systems comprised of equipment below these requirements, we cannot guarantee optimum performance. A breakdown of the minimum system requirements can be found at the bottom of the page. A networking engineer may be necessary to design, analyze and configure your network.

Stand-alone PC (single station user with database size less then 3GB):
Operating System Windows® XP Professional with SP2, Windows® 2003, Vista
(Windows® XP Home and Media Center Edition  NOT supported)
Processor & Speed Intel® Pentium® IV or Pentium® D, Single or Dual-Core processors 2.0 GHz or higher
Hard disk space 5 GB of free disk space
RAM 1 GB or more
Peer to Peer networks running up to 4 workstations and database sizes less than 4GB:
Operating System Windows® XP Professional with SP2, Windows® 2003, Vista
(Windows® XP Home and Media Center Edition  NOT supported)
Processor & Speed Intel® Pentium® IV or Pentium® D, Single or Dual-Core processors 2.0 GHz or higher

Client Server networks running 5 or more workstations or Smaller Networks with database sizes larger than 3GB:
Dedicated server running any of the following operating systems:

Microsoft® SQL Server 2000 with SP4 or SQL 2005 (Standard or Enterprise versions [not included] )

Hard disk space 10 GB of free disk space
RAM 2 GB or more
Network Workstations:
All workstations should meet the following minimum specifications:
Operating System Windows® XP Professional with SP2, Windows® 2003, Vista
(Windows® XP Home and Media Center Edition  NOT supported)
Processor & Speed Intel® Pentium® IV or Pentium® D, Single or Dual-Core processors 2.0 GHz or higher
Hard disk space 200 MB
RAM 512 MB RAM. ( 1 GB or higher is recommended for better performance )
Monitor Specifications Color Monitor with video graphics of 800x 600 and above (to maximize the screen, SoftAid uses 800x 600 for full screen view)
Other Hardware / Software Requirements:
  • Internet access to download updates
  • Pre-printed claim forms (HCFA 1500)
  • Laser Printer (dot matrix or ink jet printers are not supported)
  • Modem for electronic claims transmission (WIN modems are not supported)
Optional:
  • Microsoft® Excel (to export reports)
  • *Twain compatible scanner for scanning photos or insurance cards
  • Digital Camera or web cam (for patient ID photos)
* SPECIAL NOTE
Storing scanned items utilizes a substantial amount of disc space and requires the use of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 Standard or Enterprise (not included) regardless of system or network size. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 Standard or Enterprise are software packages sold separately from SoftAid products. See your hardware vendor for details.
